Transcendent Flight
by Eliana Krueger
This is a free verse poem written as a tribute to a friend's horse whose health was starting to fail. The horse, a black, stock-type gelding with a star and two hind socks, passed not long after this piece was originally written. It expresses my memory of and experiences with him.
These Pieces Make Me Whole
by Stefanie Simoni
I wanted this poem to reflect the bond that one can share with their horse, and show that sometimes there are deeper meanings behind how we act, or feel, or relate to someone else (whether equine or human). When we take the time to actually listen to our horses, everything falls into place more easily than if it's forced. And the special kind of understanding that goes along with it is important to both the horse and rider.
Ocean's Song
by Jess Hamill
This poem tells the story of a lost and lonely mystical horse inspired by various myths, such as the Celtic Kelpie and Greek Sirens, but with my own twist. In my interpretation, she is also a metaphor for the ocean, which can be a beautiful but daunting thing. I leave it up to the reader to decide if she is pure or corrupt like the myths she is based on. I've also made sketches to add visual interest to my poem, including my interpretation of her design.
V<>II|>
by Paris Prins
This is a Very Short version of my original story I been working on. It is about a Black BLM Mustang (Void) that gets roped into fighting in illegal Horse fights. I tried to make it more kid friendly. It is just enough writing for you to get the idea of the real story and what he looks like.
